TINUBU : RETRACT MALICIOUS REPORT OR RISK MULTIPLE CIVIL SUIT ACROSS THE WORLD – NCTSG, USA SCRIBE TO SAHARA REPORTERS

PUSH NEWS 24 INTERNATIONAL : January 17th, 2022

A Chartered Public Relations Practitioner and Socio-political Influencer, Prince Olalekan Ojo Martins (MNIPR), on behalf of progressive Nigerians in Diaspora, through the National Coalition of Tinubu Support Groups (NCTSG) DIASPORA-USA, has demanded apology and the retraction of a report against the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by an online journal, Sahara Reporters owned by a self acclaimed agitator, Omoyele Sowore titled: “Threat of perjury trial” which has been in circulation over time.

The statement reads: “The Sahara Reporters story now in circulation claiming Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has a criminal case in the United States of America is symptomatic of what happens when a publication divorces itself from any pretence of objective and impartial reportage. This is what happens when a newspaper becomes a mercenary tool for partisan designs.

In their letter, Prince Olamilekan argued that the report is not only false, but defamatory aimed at destroying the hard earned legacies of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

We demand a statement acknowledging your error of trying to damage our principals reputation as well as a public apology in two National Dailies.

“Please this concerns must be attended to immediately otherwise you run the risk of multiple civil suits all over the world in defence of our principal and symbol, “Martins wrote.

The Media specialist said the report attempted to defame Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s reputation by spreading old, utterly false gutter gossip in hope of wrongly destroying Asiwaju’s socio-political progress. Sahara Reporters and their gang of propagandist, he said, failed to inquire diligently about Tinubu’s educational records to know that he was an award-winning alumnus of the Chicago State University. Also, there was no charge at the Federal High Court numbered FHC/ABJ/CR/04/2011, nor was Tinubu tried or convicted.

Besides, the NCTSG Scribe noted that the United States Embassy, in its February 4, 2003 response to an inquiry by the Inspector-General of Police, stated that there is “no criminal arrest, records, wants or warrants for Bola Ahmed Tinubu.” “If you had checked readily available records, you would have found that he travels periodically to the United States. Had he been engaged in criminal wrongdoing, he would have been ineligible for entry into that country,” Prince Olalekan wrote.

The NCTSG DIASPORA-USA General Secretary also recalled that the Code of Conduct charge against Tinubu was dismissed. “Sahara Reporters appears to have surrendered itself to propagate old allegations to serve the same old failing antagonists who can find no serious grounds beyond their noisy interests,” the PR Practitioner added.

“Sahara Reporters has a partisan axe to grind just as in the days of GEJ and it seeks to grind that axe again against someone like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because that is what the paymasters of Sahara Reporters demand of it.

“So eager to be seen as loyal to the whims of its paymasters, Sahara Reporters stands disloyal to the very truth it professes to publish. Rather than practise journalism, this publication now specialises in peddling rumour and manufacturing fake scandal.
