2023 : I WILL LEAVERAGE TECHNOLOGY TO TAKE NIGERIA TO HEIGHTS AND BOUNDS – TINUBU

PUSH NEWS 24 INTERNATIONAL: October 19th, 2022

PRESS RELEASE

My administration will achieve double-digit economic growth, Tinubu promises at KadInvest

…APC Presidential Candidate pledges full financial automony for judiciary

…says Kaduna people will reap El-Rufai’s economic efforts

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has promised to build a vibrant economy that will achieve a double-digit growth when he becomes Nigeria’s president.

Asiwaju Tinubu said this in his speech at the 7th edition of Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KadInvest 7.0) on Saturday in Kaduna.

The APC presidential flagbearer hailed Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai for raising the bar in attracting investments to the state the same way he did in Lagos over 20 years ago.

“It is a great honour for me to be invited to give a speech on this occasion and it was a great pleasure listening to Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i as he shared with us the vision of how Kaduna State will attract and sustain investments.

“I would like to congratulate Kaduna State on this special occasion of the 7th edition of Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KadInvest 7.0). The theme for this year – Building a Resilient Economy – is very timely and appropriate. In a period of uncertainty in the global economy, it is important that we pursue a path of economic independence and insulation from global headwinds.

“I am particularly happy to be in an economic summit such as this. It reminds me of when we initiated Ehingbeti Lagos Economic Summit more than 20 years ago in Lagos State. Through the summit, Lagos State has been able to deliver landmark developmental projects in power generation, critical road infrastructure, street lightning, and clean energy initiatives, amongst others.

“Therefore, I am sure that under the able leadership of Your Excellency, Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufa’I, the leadership of the KADIPA, and subsequent administrations, Kaduna State will successfully collaborate with the private sector to usher in the investments in the priority sectors of technology, agriculture, manufacturing, infrastructure and solid minerals. These investments will in turn drive rapid economic growth and prosperity, providing jobs and opportunities for the good people of Kaduna State,” Tinubu said.

On the role of the private sector in the country’s economic development, Tinubu praised President Muhammadu Buhari for giving maximum support to them to flourish.

According to him, laws put in place by the Buhari administration helped to improve the ease of doing business in the country.

He said if elected, his administration will build on this, making it better for the private sector to excel.

“A vibrant private sector is a prerequisite for a functional state, playing a critical role in the mobilisation of capital, expertise and innovation for the creation of economic opportunities and employment. This is why it is important for the government to give maximum support and incentives to the private sector.

“In this light, President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration introduced a number of measures targeted at promoting private enterprises and businesses including the Repeal and Re-Enactment of the Companies & Allied Matters Act (CAMA), 2020, the passage of the Finance Act 2021, as well as the implementation of over 100 initiatives to improve ease of doing business in Nigeria.

“My desire is that the next administration, under my leadership, will continue to drive forward and accelerate on the progress made thus far, taking bold steps and initiatives to encourage investments in new areas typically considered risky, and leading the way by providing the enabling environment to nurture our innate entrepreneurial spirit.

“It is essential that our nation continues to champion the rule of law and sanctity of contracts, for these are the pre- requisites for creating a business-friendly economic environment.

“Whilst there must be active engagement between all the arms of government for the rule of law to prevail, it is critical for the judiciary to retain its autonomy and independence.

“Therefore, under my stewardship, the federal government will build on the efforts of the current administration to review, amend and/or enact the relevant laws that will engender the rule of law.

“My administration would ensure that the judiciary has true financial and administrative autonomy and strong disciplinary and integrity monitoring mechanisms,” Asiwaju Tinubu added.

He itemised his administration’s plans for the ensuring security returns to the country, stating the role of a secured nation in economic growth and development.

He noted that his administration will prioritise the training and retraining of the country’s security forces.

“We will be committed to introducing cross-sector initiatives that will address the economic and social constraints that prevent people from advancing or opting for crime.

Under my leadership, the government will place great emphasis on the use of a counter-insurgency doctrine and strategy by our military. We will continue to train and equip our gallant forces and security personnel with the resources, gear, and equipment that they need to hasten our inevitable march to resounding victory against enemies of our great nation. Where necessary, we will recruit and train more personnel to bridge any gaps in manpower.

“Furthermore, my administration will prioritise the use of superior aerial technology to deter criminal and terrorist activities, as well as to monitor and protect our critical national infrastructure including our network of pipelines, our power stations, our transmission and distribution networks, our sea and airports, our rail networks and other vital infrastructure,” he added.

“I will marshal a team of the most talented of Nigerians – men, women and youths – no matter their tribe and affiliations, to reset our nation on a path to achieve double-digit economic growth within a couple of years. We will do this through a coordinated set of policies in key sectors.

“We will champion an efficient government that will eliminate revenue and expense leakages across all federal government areas, leveraging technology, which will be increasingly embedded into government operations.

“In oil & gas, we will prioritise gas distribution and availability to power our industries.

“In agriculture, we will provide incentives for investments, machinery and equipment, expand and empower commodity boards, enhance our strategic grains reserves, encourage the formation of farm cooperatives and expand the scope and depth of access to finance for our farmers.

“In housing, we will introduce policies that will make it easier to transfer title and carry out transactions on landed properties. We will work with the private sector to significantly expand mortgage financing and we will provide credits and incentives to encourage real estate developers.

“We will collaborate with key technology partners to develop policies that promote the use and integration of technology across other sectors within the nation. We will work to accelerate the work that is being done with the private sector to train our youth and promote innovation through sponsored incubator hubs and science technology parks.

The APC candidate urged all Nigerians to join hands with him to work together to achieve the collective vision of building the Nigeria of our dreams.

Signed

YOU LIED, WE NEVER HAD AN AGREEMENT, IT’S MY RIGHT TO CHOOSE A DEPUTY – JANDOR HIT BODE GEORGE

PUSH NEWS 24 INTERNATIONAL: October 19th, 2022

YOU LIED, WE NEVER HAD AN AGREEMENT, IT’S MY RIGHT TO CHOOSE A DEPUTY JANDOR TO BODE GEORGE

The Lagos PDP Governorship Candidate and Convener of Lagos4Lagos Movement, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly called ‘Jandor’, has started that PDP Board member and leader of the Party in Lagos State lied when he said there was an agreement with him aimed at making Rhodes-Vivour his deputy.

Jandor made the statement in a press interview on Politics Today platform on Channels Television and monitor by Push News 24 International.

Jandor was quoted as boasting to defeat all godfathers both locally and the nationally when asked about not getting support from Governor Wike and Chief Olabode George.

The Leader of the Party in Lagos State has recently in a media interview accused Jandor of running a one man show and conniving with some persons outside the State to decide what happens in Lagos PDP. Bode George who have not publicly campaigned or endorsed Jandor has not failed to display his grievances about how Jandor.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) former chairman recalled that he met both of them months ago during a meeting.

“I asked their age; 44 (Jandor) to 39 (Rhodes-Vivour). After their presentations here, we saw that these were the best two we could have

“I asked him (Jandor) pointedly here…would you work with this man as your deputy, he said yes sir!

“Having paid for the price of the form, over N21million, I said for us to have a seamless primaries, would you take Rhodes-Vivour to be your running mate…yes sir! (Jandor replied).

“Don’t go there and start fighting. He (Jandor) had contested before from the West, which is 10 local governments.

“All the elders, we met here. Unanimously, we said the two of you should partner. He (Rhodes-Vivour) accepted to drop.

“On the day of the congress, they called me to ask if that agreement is still holding. I said hold on.

“I called Jandor on phone…Jide what we discussed, are you still in consonance with that agreement? ..Yes sir.”

The ex-Military Governor of Ondo added that it was after the assurance that they advised Rhodes-Vivour to step down.

In late August, the Labour Party (LP) announced Rhodes-Vivour as its authentic gubernatorial flagbearer.

While replying to Jide Okikiolu’s question on governor Wike’s endorsement of Gov Sanwo-Olu, Jandor dismissed Wike’s statement as a personal opinion which has no effect on Lagosians. Jandor said has defeated Wike during the Lagos PDP Governorship primaries where he supported someone else and he will do it again regardless of his endorsement of anyone.

During the PDP primaries the returning officer Mr Ogidi said the election that brought in Jandor was free and fair while declaring the result.

Mr Ogidi said: “The total number of accredited voters is 709, and Olajide Adediran got 679 votes, DAKOVA (David Kolawole Vaughan had 20 and we had 10 voided votes”.

Jandor won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election to emerge as the party’s candidate for the 2023 elections in Lagos State.

KING CHARLES TO SPEND £369M ON PALACE RENOVATION, TO MOVE IN AFTER 5 YEARS

PUSH NEWS 24 INTERNATIONAL : October 17th, 2022

King Charles ‘won’t move into Buckingham Palace for five years due to £369m refurbishment’

King Charles will reportedly be stopped from moving into Buckingham Palace for five years due to its £369 million renovation.
His Majesty, 73, and Queen Consort Camilla, 75, are instead set to be based 400 yards away at Clarence House for three days a week and Windsor Castle for two – with weekends spent at Sandringham, Norfolk, according to The Sun.

A source told the publication on Friday (14.10.22) about Charles’ palace move being delayed: “Refurbishment is very far behind schedule but the Monarch should be living at Buckingham Palace.

“It’s the heart of the monarchy in London, otherwise it risks becoming just a tourist attraction. We effectively have a king without a palace to live in.”

Workers are only halfway through a 10-year refurbishment of the palace, which will include fitting new electrics, plumbing and heating, and which will render it uninhabitable until 2027.

Meanwhile, Charles’ coronation date has been announced as May 6 next year, almost 70 years after the Queen was crowned in June 1953.

INTERNET FRAUD : TWO NIGERIANS ARINZE 33, UGO 47 FOUND GUITY IN CALIFORNIA

PUSH NEWS 24 INTERNATIONAL: October 14th, 2022

Two California men were found guilty by a jury today of federal criminal charges for participating in an extensive, long-lasting, multimillion-dollar conspiracy – much of it committed by Nigerian nationals – that perpetrated a wide variety of frauds, including business email compromise (BEC) fraud, romance scams, elder fraud and fraud using malware.

George Ugochukwu Egwumba, 47, of Cypress, and Princewell Arinze Duru, 33, of Sacramento, were found guilty of one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Egwumba was found guilty of one count of aggravated identity theft. Duru was found guilty of one count of wire fraud and one count of aiding and abetting aggravated identity theft.

According to evidence presented at their seven-day trial, members of the conspiracy – many of whom were based in Nigeria – used middlemen to connect with their fellow co-conspirators located in the United States. The U.S.-based middlemen assisted in receiving and laundering the proceeds of the frauds either through U.S. bank accounts, money transmitting services such as Western Union or MoneyGram, or cryptocurrency.

In exchange, the middlemen and those who assisted with the laundering of illicit proceeds received a percentage of the fraudulently obtained funds.

At the center of the conspiracy were Valentine Iro, 33, of Carson, Chukwudi Christogunus Igbokwe, 41, of Gardena – both Nigerian citizens – and Chuks Eroha, 41, who is believed to have fled to Nigeria in 2017, shortly after the FBI executed a search warrant in this case. This trio of middlemen connected the fraudsters with the money launderers, sometimes with other middlemen in between, and often used the same bank accounts for laundering funds. Iro and Igbokwe have pleaded guilty to criminal charges in this case.

Egwumba acted as another middleman, receiving bank account information from Iro and Eroha to pass to other fraudsters, and also worked to commit fraud himself by using malware and other cybercrime tools. Egwumba exchanged text messages with Iro and Eroha, in which he asked for and received bank account information that could be used to receive stolen money.

LokiBot and NanoCore remote access trojan malware and other cybercrime tools were found on Egwumba’s computers, along with messages in which he discussed using these tools to attempt to commit fraud.

Duru helped Igbokwe and others in receiving and laundering the fraudulently obtained money, both by opening fraudulent business bank accounts and using money transmitting services and cryptocurrency wallets.

Push News 24 International learnt that Duru registered a fraudulent business in Sacramento County and then used that company to open two business bank accounts at different banks. Duru gave the bank account information to Igbokwe so it could be used to receive fraud proceeds. One victim was deceived into depositing approximately $25,600 into one of Duru’s business bank accounts.

The conspiracy involved the laundering of at least $6 million in fraudulently obtained funds and the attempted theft of at least an additional $40 million.

United States District Judge R. Gary Klausner scheduled an October 17 hearing for these defendants, at which time both will face a statutory maximum sentence of 22 years in federal prison.

So far, prosecutors have secured 19 guilty pleas in this case. Additional defendants have been arrested in Nigeria, and others are believed to be at large.

The FBI investigated this matter. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, and the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) provided substantial assistance during the investigation.

Assistant United States Attorneys Sue Bai and Victoria Degtyareva of the Cyber and Intellectual Property Crimes Section are prosecuting this case.

The FBI in 2017 issued a report on the rise of BEC schemes, and published a recap of 2018’s Operation WireWire, which was an international effort to disrupt international BEC scams. An FBI public service announcement that warns of the dangers of BEC schemes encourages businesses to “trust but verify.”

2023: APC MAY NOT PRESENT CANDIDATE AS COURT NULLIFY PRIMARY

PUSH NEWS 24 INTERNATIONAL: October 14th, 2022

The crises rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State has taking a new turn with the recent court Judgement over the state APC primaries, Push News 24 International learnt.

The Federal High Court in Yola, Adamawa State, on Friday, nullified the candidature of Aishatu Ahmed (Binani) as the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in the state.

It’s obvious that the peace moves by key stakeholders for an out of court settlement has had a step back as parties concerned have refused to sheath their swords for the sake of the party victory at the polls.

Based on suit FHC/YL/CS/12/2022 filed by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the court ruling declared Binani’s candidature invalid and unlawful.

Justice Abdulaaziz Anka, in his ruling, also refused the plea for a fresh primary, holding that the APC, by the court judgment, had no candidate for the 2023 governorship election.

Anka arrived at his judgment after resolving all the issues for consideration involving the outcome of the Adamawa APC governorship primary conducted on May 26, 2022.

He held that the primary was not compliant with the 2022 Electoral Act, the nation’s constitution, and the party guidelines.

The judge said the nomination of Sen. Aishatu Ahmed, popularly known as Binani, was in clear contravention of Section 85 of the Electoral Act because there was “manifest overvoting.”

Anka said, “My findings are that there’s non-compliance to the Electoral Act, as well as party guidelines and the constitution because there was manifest overvoting, which has been proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

The first defendant (APC) cannot field a candidate for the 2023 general elections; the primary election is invalid, and the court therefore sees the return of Aishatu Ahmed Binani as unlawful. The plea for fresh elections is hereby refused.”

The Push News reports that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu had, on the 9th of June, approached the court, seeking the disqualification of Aishatu Ahmed Binani.

Binani had defeated five other challengers, that included the pioneer chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nuhu Ribadu, to emerge the APC governorship candidate at the May 26 primary.

The court has, however, asked the party to utilise the 30-day window available to them to appeal its ruling.
