…Takes Campaign to Religious Center in Lagos.
By Fashina Shakiru.
Abdul-Ahmed Mustapha, an All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos governorship aspirant has appealed to the Nadwat-Ul-Ahli Islamic society of Nigeria, (NADWAT) congregation to VOTE Presidential hopeful Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Lagos state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for second term and all APC candidates in this month general elections.
Mustapha, a former permanent secretary in the Lagos state civil service, Ministry of energy and mineral resources made the appeal on Sunday during a courtesy visit to Nadwat-Ul-Ahli Islamic society of Nigeria, NADWAT, TBS, Lagos.
According to Mustapha, “Since the inception of democracy in 1999 and following the framework laid down by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Lagos state has metamorphosed to the thriving cosmopolitan mega city being enjoyed by the citizens of Lagos state.
“Despite, the constant influx of people from different states into Lagos which pose a significant amount of pressure on our infringe, we are still able to thrive and tremendously improved the infrastructure of the state under Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Mr. Babatunde Fashola SAN, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”
“Support from the Federal Government and having Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will go on along way in complementing Governor Sanwo-Olu’s efforts and guarantee the well deserved, long overdue special status for Lagos, As the economic hub of the federation.”
He added, “There is no way, in the world, a Federal Capital is relocated without subsequent support for the former Capital; This TBS ground that we are standing today was handed over to the federal government during the British era and rather than return it to the Lagos state government; The federal government under, PDP administration concession it to someone else.
“If TBS was handed over to the state, we could have done so much to upgrade and regenerate the edifice. Aside that, under President Obasanjo’s administration, an attempt to set up Greater Metropolitan Lagos Development Agency, considering the fact that, Lagos state expanded beyond territorial boundary and cover some parts of Ogun state, was jettisoned. So either by special statute or using infrastructures greater metropolitan Lagos development agency to support Lagos state by the Federal government is sacrosanct.”
He said, ‘Voting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, As the President will go along way in making sure getting perquisite funding to build more schools, roads, hospitals and continuously provide dividend of democracy which people have been enjoying. The framework which had worked tremendously to increase the IGR of Lagos state is what Asiwaju intends to implement at the federal level.”
On the Naira Redesign, Mustapha said, “The timing of the change of currency policy has proven to be afflicting pain on the masses, considering that, After COVID-19, the production capacity of the global economy is at best, just over 50% right now. So for anything you want to do, like resources required to print New Notes for the whole country; there is wait time; Even in China, which is bedrock of production capacity. The CBN collected N1.9 trillion, and printed out N900 billion. What fraction is that?
“The enabling architecture and infrastructure to ensure the success of the cash policy; The POS, Mobile Banking Apps are not reliable, Epileptic internet services also a major challenge. India where the policy was copied from went through three different faces before they where stable. The policy is right, but not something to rush, especially at this critical period.”
Speaking further, Mustapha added that, “My message is similar message to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have said go out on Election Day with your PVCs, make sure you queue and get accredited with BVAS either by thumb printing or facial recognition. Thumbprint your ballots Infront of the APC logo with your index figures.”
He urged the congregation not to let the issue of scarcity of fuel and Naira distract them and rather focus on the position from which Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will revolutionized development of this country, just like he has done in Lagos state.
