AMUWO ODOFIN REPS-ELECT, PRINCE LANRE SANUSI GETS APC NOD, AS HE OFFICIALLY SIGNS AND SUBMITS INEC FORM AS PARTY CANDIDATE

It was a sight of relief and moments of mixed excitement as the winner of the APC primaries for the House of Representatives in AmuwoOdofinFederalConstituency, Prince Lanre A. Sanusi victory was formally recognized and endorsed as he was issued the relevant INEC forms indicating him as the party flag bearer in the 2023 elections.

Push News 24 International reports that PLS who is a grassrooter and financier of the party in Amuwo Odofin over whemingly won the primaries with a majority votes.

Sanusi, fondly called PLS by admirers, secured 36 votes out of the 55 votes that were cast to clinch the APC ticket, while his closest rivals, the Executive Chairman of Oriade LCDA, Hon (Mrs) Ramotalahi Akinola-Hassan Hassan and former Assembly member , Hon Olorunrinu Dipo secured seven votes each.

Announcing the results, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Falade Akin declared Sanusi winner of the election, having scored the highest number of votes.

In 2019, the PLS contested for the same seat on the platform of the APC but was advise by the party leadership to relinquish same for gender parity to late Hon. Risikat Ajoke Adegeye, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

PLS in is social media handle said “Today, 14th of June 2022. I submitted my INEC nomination form as the APC Candidate for House Of Representatives In Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency at the APC National Secretariat Abuja.
I was received by the APC Deputy National Organizing Secretary Mr Nze Chidi Duru.
I give glory to God Almighty for great things he has done and greater things he will do.”

Push News 24 International reports that INEC has stressed that only names of candidates that emerged from democratic primaries as provided by Sec. 84 of the Electoral Act 2022 shall be submitted.

Since all primaries ended on thursday 9th June 2022. All Political Parties are required to submit their list of candidates for national elections (Presidential/Vice Presidential, Senatorial and House of Representatives) latest by Friday 17th June 2022.

For State elections (Governorship/Deputy Governorship and State Houses of Assembly), the list of candidates shall be uploaded from 1st to 15th July 2022 as already provided in the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2023 General Election already released by the Commission.

Push News can also confirm that all political parties are required to upload the details of their candidates for each constituency to the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP). To achieve this objective, four officials recommended by each of the 18 political parties were trained on the procedure for uploading the nomination forms to the dedicated web portal.

Confidential Access Codes to the portal have already been given to each Political Party to facilitate the uploading of its nominations.

A Nomination Centre has been set up by the Commission’s Headquarters to receive and process all nominations by political parties, including dedicated telephone lines to serve as Help Desk for any Party that may need assistance. In our avowed commitment to openness and transparency of the process, the media will be invited to the Nomination Center so that Nigerians will see our level of preparedness for the exercise.
