Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has picked the Ogun East Senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He emerged unopposed with the withdrawal of incumbent Lekan Mustapha from the contest. “Mustapha who left the camp of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun for Governor Dapo Abiodun to enhance his re-election chances stepped down for the higher good based on pressure from respected quarters”.

Push News 24 International reports that Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola aka Yayi has defeated incumbent Senator Tolu Odebiyi to pick the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Ogun West.
Adeola, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, scored 294 votes to defeat Tolu Odebiyi who polled zero vote.
A total of 294 delegates cutting across the five local government areas, were accredited for voting in the primary and all of them voted for Adeola popularly called YAYI.
Senator Odebiyi arrived the venue of the primary around 12:48pm with some of his supporters, claiming that he was the only person in the race for the APC Senate ticket
The Senator spoke with reporters shortly after he arrived the venue.
He said each of the two other contestants – Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade and Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka (GNI)-had stepped down earlier to take up House of Representatives tickets.
But the political climate changed around 1:28pm when Odebiyi’s main challenger, Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, arrived amid rousing welcome by a crowd of supporters some minutes later.
