JANUARY 15TH : OUR FREEDOM ISN’T GUARANTEED – HON. OLA FOLORUNSHO
Lagos House of Assembly Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 aspirant and Business Consultant, Hon Ola Folorunsho aka OlaWestern has joined millions of Nigerians and in particular H.E. the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu to commemorate the annual January 15th Armed Forces Remembrance day.
Hon Folorunsho in his broadcast message made available to Push News 24 International, while saluting Nigeria’s Heroes, the brave men and women of the armed forces and first responders who serve to protect and preserve our freedoms, liberty, and life said Our freedom is not guaranteed.
“Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a good time to remember that our freedom isn’t guaranteed. It’s protected by the men and women in our Armed Services. To those who secure our way of life… thank you!” He said.
The philanthropist further mentioned that despite the strains on our lives, it is important to take the time to step back and reflect on the positives in our families, communities, and world and that the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in the Nigeria provides one of those great reasons to pause, reflect, and recognize the Unity in our diversity.
” Every January 15th I call upon all citizens of Nigeria and Amuwo Odofin LGA in particular to join to “solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom. Today, our troops continue to serve with dedication and honor, all around the world. We recognize the commitment, and sacrifices of our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, etc – and their families.”
OlaWestern message also reads in parts –
“Today, and every day, we take this moment to say thank you to those who served – There’s no way to thank our veterans, heroes for everything they sacrifice for our freedom.”
“So please take a moment today to reflect on what this day is truly about. To appreciate and recognize those who serve today and did so in the past. To remember the sacrifices, the service with honor, the dedication of those who serve, and those who love and support them. And to take the extra time to extend your thanks to those who have or are serving their country. It is because of them, and their families, that we can enjoy the freedoms that we as Nigerians often take for granted.”
“Not only should we thank the military, but we should resolve to thank them throughout the year for the vital service they perform for our country.” OlaWestern charged.
Push News 24 International can confirm any day is a good day to thank Nigerian veterans and heroes for his or her service. However, it’s particularly important on January 15th, otherwise known as Armed Forces Remembrance Day. Initially meant to be celebrated globally for world peace and the end of the World War but the Nigerian Government choose January 15th which marks the end of the Nigerian Civil War for honoring current and former members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
