LAGOS GUBER : SANWO-OLU TROUNCE OPPOSITION WITH WIDE MARGIN

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has the winner of the 2023 governorship election held in the state on Saturday.

Sanwo-Olu scored 762,134 to defeat both the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidates, Rhodes-Vivour, and his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor – they polled 312,329 and 62,449 respectively.

The incumbent governor polled the highest votes in Ikeja, Apapa, Badagry, Lagos Island, Epe, Agege, Ibeju-lekki, Kosofe, Surulere, and Somolu.

Other areas, where the governor won big include Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos Mainland, Alimosho, Ojo, Ikorodu, Mushin and Oshodi.

Declaring Sanwo-Olu the winner of the election, the INEC’s state Collation/Returning Officer, and Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, (FUTA), Ondo State, Prof Adenike Temidayo Oladiji said: “I declare that the governorship candidate of the APC, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, having satisfied the requirements of the law by scoring 25 per cent in two-third of the local government areas in the state, and also scoring the highest number of valid votes cast is hereby declared winner and returned elected.”
Reacting to the result, Chairman of the LP in Lagos State and LP agent at the collation centre, Mrs. Dayo Ekong, rejected the result. While reciting the second stanza of the national anthem, she described the whole electoral process as a sham, saying, “This is an election that is laced with violence, and people were massively disenfranchised. The INEC has lowered its standard and Labour Party totally rejects the results.”

ASIWAJU HAS SHOWN PASSION, PATROTISM, COURAGE AND DETERMINATION- VP OSIBAJO

Babafemi Ojudu, Special Adviser on Political Matters to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), says attempts to cause conflict between the National Leader of All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu; and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in the forthcoming presidential election will fail.

Ojudu made this known in a statement on Monday in reference to an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ breakfast programme earlier today.

In a statement, Ojudu, who works in the Office of the Vice-President, said Osinbajo and Tinubu are members of the ruling party and both men welcome politics without bitterness and divisiveness.

He also inferred that there is no conflict of political interests between the two politicians.

Push News 24 International reports that the VP Osinbajo in his congratulatory message to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu described him as a Nationalist and patriot.

“I congratulate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at our party primaries and his emergence as the Presidential Candidate and Flagbearer of our great party, the APC for the forthcoming 2023 Presidential Elections.

I also congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari and all leaders of the APC for a successful Special Convention and Presidential Primary.

For many decades, our Flagbearer has shown passion, patriotism, courage and determination in the cause of nation-building. His sterling contributions to our democracy and its progress stand him out. His wealth of experience will certainly be critical in our party’s continued efforts to attain a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.

To all members of our great party, regardless of who you voted for at the primaries, we must now unite behind our Presidential Candidate and Flagbearer to ensure victory for our party in the 2023 elections.

AMUWO’23 : SANUSI REPEATS 2019 FEAT AGAIN, DEFEATS CABINET MEMBER, EXECUTIVE CHAIRMEN, STATE EXCO MEMBER TO EMERGE APC CANDIDATE

An ally of the incumbent governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, Prince Lanre Sanusi popularly called PLS has yet again proved his grassroot popularity by winning back-to-back the 2023 election primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives by a landslide in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency.

The US trained professional tax and financial advisory expert defeated nine other aspirants by a wide margin of 36 votes, amongst whom is a two term incumbent Executive Chairman and a two term former Executive Chairman amongst others.

The Chairman of the primary election panel, announced the results and winner late friday in Amuwo Odofin LGA where the House of Representatives primary election took place.

The primary results Prince Lanre Sanusi pulling 36 votes, incubent Chairman , Oriade LCDA, Hon Ramotalai Akinola-Hassan 7 votes, former Assemble member, Hon Dipo Olorunrinu 7 votes.

A former Councillor Hon Kate Banjoko had 2 votes, while Olawale Ebietomiye had 3 votes.

Others includes a current serving Cabinet Member in Lagos State, Hon Gbenga Oyerinde who got no vote, a two term Executive Chairman and State Exco member, Hon Ayodele Adewale, Taiwo Odumuyiwa and Olu Bethel all had no votes.

In his acceptance speech, PLS saluted the leadership style of the Amuwo Odofin Apex as been very fair to all aspirants adding “ I am happy that the process was free and fair and transparent enough to ensure the best aspirants emerge”.

The Lagos State born Prince further said that he won because other aspirants underestimated his cordial relationship with the constituents and his progressive ideologies as listed in his manifestos which was presented to the people.

Push News 24 International can authoritatively report that a recent conducted polls by Push News has initially positioned PLS as the likely winner of the APC primaries based on the outcome of the polls respondent.

Push News reports that in 2019 PLS won the primaries in a landslide but was denied the party candidacy due to some power play and as a grassroot and seasoned politician, PLS did not relent in his efforts towards playing an active role in the socio-political advancement in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency .

PLS who has his doctorate degree in view was believe to have been voted by the majority delegates do to his rancour free campaign strategies and simplicity in addressing issues that concerns the constituency.

PLS was also quoted as saying after been announced as the winner that “Today signals the birth of a fresh project that will signal taking Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency to the next level.”

PLS who is also an active member of the party in the United States of America has been contributing financially to the activities of the APC in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency and this has earn him more support and accolades. An ally of the incumbent governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide SANWOOLU who he campaigned immensely for his re-election.

APC PRIMARIES: FEMI GBAJABIAMILA WINS 6TH TERM TO THE HOUSE OF REPS

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2023 elections in Surulere 1 federal constituency of Lagos State.

Gbajabiamila, who was first elected into the lower legislative chamber of the National Assembly in 2003, is seeking to represent his constituency for the 6th time.

In a statement, the Special Adviser to the Speaker on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi on Friday stated that, Gbajabiamila emerged the winner in the primary election held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere on Friday.

According to the statement, 30 delegates voted for Gbajabiamila to emerge as the APC candidate.

Gbajabiamila was the only aspirant in the primaries as no other candidate collected nomination form to contest against him.

In the same vein, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker, Umar Puma in a statement disclosed that, Idris Wase, Deputy Speaker, emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Wase Federal Constituency of Plateau State after the primary election conducted on Friday.

According to the statement, Chairman of the party’s electoral committee, Adie Ferdinand, said the Deputy Speaker scored 59 votes to emerge as APC candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

He said 60 delegates were registered for the primaries, out of which 59 cast their ballots and one was absent.

He said: “The Deputy Speaker has scored 59 votes to emege as candidate for the APC in Wase Federal Constituency while the other candidates didn’t get any votes”.

In his acceptance speech, the Deputy Speaker thanked the delegates and leadership of APC for re-electing him their flagbearer.

Sanwo-Olu, GAC, Lagos APC Urge Party Members to Conduct Themselves During Congresses, Primaries

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appealed to leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner during the forthcoming primary elections and congresses of the party in the State.

He also appealed to them to abide by the tenets of the ruling party during the primary elections, as well as the elections of local government, state and national delegates.

Governor Sanwo-Olu made the statement during the Lagos APC Stakeholders’ meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Acme Road, Ogba on Tuesday.

He said it is the responsibility of party members to live, work and dream in the tenets of the party as APC conducts its congresses across the state on Wednesday and therefore urged the party’s faithful to conduct themselves in an orderly manner and comply with the party’s guidelines.

In his address, the leader of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the apex leadership body of Lagos APC, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, charged all the party members to work hard for the ruling party to retain Lagos during next year’s elections.

He also advised the party members to ensure that people with integrity are elected during APC congresses and primaries, adding that they must discourage saboteurs from being elected as delegates and party candidates during the APC primaries and 2023 polls respectively.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, appealed to APC members to support, work and abide by any decision made to ensure the party’s success in order for it to continue to reign.

He appealed to the party members to sacrifice where necessary for the common interest and the progress of the ruling party, especially in the interest of the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is running for the 2023 presidency.

Speaking earlier, Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, said the business of forthcoming congress and primary elections of the party should not be seen as a do or die affair by the delegates.

He said they should see both the congress and the primaries as a contest.

Pastor Ojelabi while imploring party members to use internal mechanism to resolve conflicts said no local government chairman or party chairman at the council level had a right to write a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for redress on any issue without first exploring the internal conflict resolution of the party.

Lagos APC chairman also encouraged party leaders and members to show commitment and passion toward the ongoing continuous voters’ registration by encouraging people to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the June 30 deadline.

The stakeholder’s meeting was attended by Governor Sanwo-Olu, his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; GAC members, Lagos APC executives, members of the Lagos State Executive Council, members of the National Assembly and Lagos State House of Assembly, Conference 57 and party’s chairmen from 20 local governments and state’s technical support committee, among others.

Indications yesterday emerged that the former Governor of Lagos State and leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, may clinch the ruling party’s presidential ticket.

Findings from the party faithful in Kano, Kaduna, Kastina, Niger, Adamawa, and other parts of the north-east and north-west revealed that no other aspirant was respected and trusted by the delegates as much as Tinubu, who was received in all the states with a rousing welcome, was also described as a consistent leader and a true party man.

According to a reliable source in Kastina, who pleaded anonymity, some APC caucus members are currently evaluating all aspirants’ track records in terms of their commitment to democracy, APC, tolerance and achievements.

“I can tell you authoritatively that we are seriously considering Asiwaju because of his track record. He is truly a detribalised Nigerian who has remained consistent with democracy and the rule of law over three decades. Several Nigerians have benefited from his generosity and he is not bias in dealing with people irrespective of their tribe, religion, and other differences. A peep into Tinubu’s family, political dynasty and many of those who have become important figures in Nigeria today says it all. “
