FEMI ODERE ADDRESSES CHIEF IWUANYANWU’S PROVOCATIVE AND IRRESPONSIBLE OUTBURST

PUSH NEWS 24 INTERNATIONAL : March 24th, 2023

PRESS STATEMENT

CHIEF IWUANYANWU’S PROVOCATIVE AND IRRESPONSIBLE OUTBURST

Our attention has been drawn to the comments made by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the Chairman, Council of Elders of Ohaneze Ndigbo in a video clip that has gone viral. Chief Iwuanyanwu made these comments on Saturday, March 25th at a ceremony in Anambra State where he was a special guest of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s one-year commemoration in office.

In the video, Chief Iwuanyanwu said, “I want our people in Lagos to know that on Wednesday, I called a meeting of the Ohaneze Council of Elders worldwide and we x-rayed the events in Lagos…We have resolved that never, never again can we allow anybody to take the life of an innocent Igbo person. All of us are going to fight the person. Never again. We are going to fight the person.”

“We are in Nigeria. And we have invested in Nigeria. Our investments are so much. We are not going to take the pressure of people telling us to go. We are not going anywhere. And I want to tell those in Lagos to realize that there’s no war between us and Yorubas. Yorubas are just political rascals. And we’re going to handle them.”

Although it is tempting to go toe-to-toe with Chief Iwuanyawu in what we believe was a deliberately made provocative, irresponsible, and condescending statement in our response, which would also have disparaged the entire Igbo people. But we won’t.

We would have blamed Chief Iwuanyanwu’s outburst on some cheap whiskey taken at the event where he made this negative, utterly annoying remarks. Or perhaps his morbidly obese body constitution could be the culprit as this might be affecting his capacity to think clearly and speak intelligently. But we wager that what happened at the Soludo event was another one of those predetermined, calculated attempts to draw the ire of the Yoruba people in order to create an unstable sociopolitical atmosphere in the polity to achieve their pathological fixation for an Interim government. We’re too discerning to fall for that bait.

The invective of Chief Iwuanyanwu, and by extension, his Ohaneze Ndigbo clan against a people whose only sin is the fact that they are too loving and accommodating for their liking (because they lack these virtues) should be seen within the context of someone having a withdrawal symptom after working himself into a frenzy for so long that his candidate would win the recently concluded presidential election without any empirical and intelligent political permutations to justify his delusion.

We should therefore brace ourselves for more of this senseless and idiotic vituperation as the inauguration of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu draws closer.

We urge our people to resist any attempt to be provoked because their overarching game plan is to create a crisis atmosphere so that our democracy can be truncated. They know that their court case is wooly at best. Let us continue to take the insults and abuses from the likes of Chief Iwuanyanwu and his Igbo travelers while Asiwaju and his team concentrate on an inauguration that will usher in a new dawn of unprecedented accomplishments across the country as he did in Lagos, which gave them the platform for their much-touted and overdramatized investments, towards a more perfect nation.

The Coordinator, Hon Cecil Okereke who is the generic leader of Igbos in the APC, spoke vehemently about the need to use their numerically strength positively charging them to begin mass mobilization and canvassing for support to all the party candidates, even as we face the crucial phase of the 2003 campaigns. One of the vital points the Assembly faithful highlighted was the legacy project of the surge from the Atlantic Ocean which was threatening to submerge Lagos perennially but was ingeniously arrested by the Asiwaju administration by laying the template which not only stopped the perceived catastrophy , but converted the area reclaimed to a high brow infrastructural scheme of international standards earning huge revenue for both the State and Federal governments.

The Construction Expert also reminded Ndigbo of Asiwaju’s pedigree of all inclusiveness in government which he demonstrated while in office as the executive governor of Lagos State. He reassured the South Easterners that Asiwaju would be a President who will rebuild Nigeria because of his detribalized disposition and commitment to the development of human capital.

The in-coming legislator informed the group, he had influenced the approved rehabilitation of the seven roads in Amuwo Odofin through the office of Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu while awaiting formal election into office .

Olawestern whioe concluding emphasized on the need for ensuring victory for the party candidates and ensuring that people are encouraged to collect their permanent voters card and exercise their electoral franchise .

In his concluding remarks, Hon Chukwuemeka Nwachukwu aka Sacramento who is an executive of the group, assured the incoming legislator of victory in all polls,

” the APC was posed to win elections by issue based campaigns and not frivolities and sentiments based on hype to deceive the electorate , weaponizing social media hype as a tool of disenchantment peculiar with opposition parties.”

Sacramento thanked Ola Western for the support he has given the group and assured on the ensuring the mobilization of all Ndigbo in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency towards achieving victory in the 2023 elections

2023 : SANWOOLU GETS LAGOS APC LEADERSHIP NOD FOR 2ND TERM AS GOVERNOR

PUSH NEWS 24 INTERNATIONAL: May 6th, 2022

Sanwo-Olu Gets Clean Bill to Run for Second Term, As Tinubu Raises Governor’s Hand in Endorsement

…Lagos APC Stakeholders Meet, Unanimously Approve Governor’s Re-Election
…Asiwaju Paid for My Second Term Nomination Form – Says Gov.

Will Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu be the standard bearer of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Lagos State? This question has finally been answered by an open endorsement of the Governor and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for a second term in office by the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the entire members of the Lagos State chapter of the APC.

At the party’s stakeholders’ meeting held at Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Alausa on Friday, Tinubu physically raised the hands of Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat in approval of their bid to continue in office beyond 2023.

This development puts all rumours surrounding the recent endorsement of Sanwo-Olu for a second term by the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) to rest.

Tinubu’s endorsement of Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat has also laid to rest the speculations in some quarters, especially some online news platforms few days ago that the APC National Leader dumped Sanwo-Olu for a former Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Civil Service, Mustapha Olorunfemi.

Tinubu said the Governor and his deputy have built an unbreakable team to raise the bar of excellence in governance and service delivery in the State, with visible achievements and progress to show for their efforts. This, the APC National Leader said, earned the duo the opportunity to return for second term, and not a blank endorsement which many politicians sought.

Tinubu, a leading presidential hopeful on APC platform, said Lagos under Sanwo-Olu’s leadership had remained a State of pride for residents and other Nigerians who crave responsive governance and progress.

He said: “We have a brilliant Governor at the helm of affairs, who is supported by his deputy to build an unbreakable team that has raised the bar of excellence in governance in Lagos. I specially thank Dr. Hamzat, who has been a very good assistant and a pillar of support to the Governor.

“Sanwo-Olu with Hamzat has raised an impenetrable team. I commend both of you and all members of the cabinet. You have all done wonderfully well and I must say that I am very proud of you.”

The raising of Sanwo-Olu’s hand by Tinubu was preceded by a motion moved by the Vice Chairman of APC (Lagos East), Hon. Saidat Oladunjoye, for open endorsement of the Governor by the party’s leadership. The motion was seconded by a member representing Alimosho Constituency in the House of Assembly, Hon. Kehinde Joseph. This attracted a resounding approval from all stakeholders in attendance.

The APC National Leader, however, said the party in Lagos would not prevent any aspirant vying for any position from testing their strength at the primaries, noting that all candidates that would be fielded by the party across elective positions must go through a delegate electoral system.

Tinubu said: “Aspirants who are showing interest in positions from House of Assembly to governorship, go and get your forms; you are going to contest primaries. There will not be any favouritism in the primaries.

“We want you to contest and test your popularity. Nobody will ask to step down for another aspirant. Let all aspirants mobilise their supporters; if you win, you win. If you lose, there will not be a refund of the nomination form.”

Tinubu charged all leaders holding the party structure at the local government level to rise above their challenges and work with the community leaders in their respective councils to mobilise for the APC victory at the general election.

He directed the resolution of all grievances and disagreements causing disaffection among party members ahead of the primaries, stressing that division would not bring any good to party candidates standing for election.

Speaking during the stakeholders meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed that Asiwaju Tinubu paid the N50million fee for APC Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for his second term bid.

“Asiwaju Tinubu is a generous man and he is doing a lot for people. He paid for my APC nomination and expression of interest forms to run for the second term,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation to Tinubu for his guidance and thanked the GAC leaders for standing by his government despite personal attacks they suffered from those the Governor referred to as “wayward children” who turned against the party elders after benefiting from them.

The Governor said it was time for the party members across levels to foster cohesion and work for the APC’s success in the State and at the federal level.

Sanwo-Olu, who described Tinubu as a “priceless symbol” of Lagos, said all hands must be on deck to ensure the State was not robbed of the presidential ticket of APC at the national primaries of the party.

He said: “It is time to come together as determined party members and show genuine love towards our National Leader, who is our priceless symbol and pride in Lagos. We are taking him national and we must ensure his house is fully united.“

The stakeholders’ meeting, convened at the instance of Tinubu, was attended by Lagos APC chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, party executive members, GAC members, senatorial leaders and stalwarts across all local councils in the State.

LAGOS4LAGOS: APC LEADER IN IKORODU DIVISION DEFECTS TO PDP, SHADES TINUBU

PUSH NEWS 24 INTERNATIONAL : December 4, 2021

LAGOS4LAGOS: APC LEADER IN IKORODU DIVISION DEFECTS TO PDP, SHADES TINUBU

Princess Adenrele Ogunsanya

A former Secretary to the Lagos State Government and a leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Local Government Area, Princess Adenrele Adeniran Ogunsanya, has publicly declared and identified with the People Democratic Party (PDP) confirming rumours of her earlier romance with her former political party, the PDP.

Push News 24 International confirmed her presence at the formal recognition of her group the Lagos4Lagos Movement at an event in Lagos on Saturday which signalled the formal acceptance and recognition of the group as part of the PDP by the former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.

Adenrele in one of the Lagos4Lagos Press Conference

Speaking at the event in company of the groups governorship candidate and other executives, Princess Denrele who sits at the top of the Board of Trustees of the Lagos4Lagos Movement said there’s need for fairness and justice in any party and the PDP represents what her group need to achieve their aspirations.

Flanked by the lead convener of Lagos4Lagos, Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor, Senator Bukola Saraki, Director of Media and Strategy, Lagos4Lagos, Seun Soyinka and the Central Coordinator, Funke Ijaiyekunle, Denrele said a lot of people are not happy with what’s happening in Lagos where one man controls everything, and people are afraid to challenge the status quo, “that can no-longer be accepted”.

Aderenle who herself was said to be a beneficiary of what she so condemned defected initially from the PDP to the APC where the same god-fathers of Lagos politics imposed her on the members of the party as SSG despite other existing qualified persons, says she has confidence in the leadership of Jandor to return Lagos State to it’s rightful place, hence, her decision to endorse the groups movement to the PDP.

Despite several denials of the real intensions of the Lagos4Lagos Movement over their anti-party activities while in the APC particularly conducting a parallel State Congress in Lagos State their antics seems to be obvious to the leadership of the party in the State who had on several occasions ignored their several threats by the group of been in the majority.

It’s only fair for a party that lay claim to being democratic as its credo to institutionalize internal democracy for all to contest without imposition of unpopular candidates“, Aderenle stressed.

Senator Saraki and Jandor at the official event recognizing Lagos4Lagos into PDP

To Denrele, She’s not happy that APC lacks internal democracy in Lagos State and only answers to the whims and caprices of one man. “I’m not so happy with what’s going on in Lagos . You are aware of what’s going on. When you are not allowed to air your views . It’s disgraceful that a state like Lagos can’t comport itself. I’m sure the National leadership of the Party are taking cognizance of what’s going on. I know something must be done right. Nobody can deny That Lagos4Lagos is the strongest group in Lagos APC. They have been issuing threats. I’m not afraid of their threats. At 73, I don’t want my children and grandchildren to ask, “ what did you do to change the system.” Millions of people in Lagos are not happy with what’s going on, but they are afraid. I came out openly to stand with Lagos4Lagos because I saw courage which is lacking in our politicians. And I saw genuine feelings for the people. I’m not looking for position, but I want Lagos to regain her pride of place.” the former SSG added.

Words on the streets has it that Princess Aderenle seems not to have been able to redeem her relationship with the APC power brokers who were not satisfied with her inglorious role during the Governor Ambode seconds term saga, hence, her decision to go for the gun powder despite been apportuned to nominate candidates in the recent local government elections in Ikorodu. Ikorodu Division have a history of always been known to have some of her leadership leave the main stream ruling party to pursue their personal ambitions; Senator Ogunlewe defected in similar manner only to return back to same party in the State.

Push News 24 International has it from a credible source that the Governor Buni led Caretaker Committee has refused to recognize the Lagos4Lagos Movement, hence, their decision to seek refuge in the PDP with the hope that Jandor will clinch the governorship candidate ticket in 2023.

With about 14 months to the general elections, Nigerians are in for an era of political innuendos.
