A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and House of Representatives Candidate for Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election, Prince Lanre A. Sanusi aka PLS has joined other well-wishers to celebrate with the Apex leader of his Constituency and Vice Chairman Badagry Divisional Leaders Forum, Prince Saliu Adio Olatunji Sekoni, on the occasion of the celebration of his 72nd birthday anniversary.

In his felicitation message on Sunday to the former Amuwo Odofin Local Government Council boss, the party chieftain said, “I join all well-meaning friends and family members both in Lagos and abroad to wish my leader and father a colourful birthday.

Sanusi said, “the amiable leader to the good people of Kuje Amuwo and indigenous communities has displayed emphaty, care, professionalism and excellence in leadership when discharging his duties even as a former council boss”, adding that “It is not the years in your life but the life in your years that counts being a rare bred and an enigmatic administrator cum community leader”.

According to the APC Reps Candidate, “Alhaji Sekoni is indeed a tireless socio-political brain-box, a committed ally, a tactical progressive politician and a dutiful servant leader whose inestimable contributions and role towards the birth of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration is commendable.

“As you consummate another circle in the journey of your life, those of us who are your admirers in Lagos State wish you many more thriving, prosperous, flourishing, triumphant and fruitful years ahead.”

AKINLOLA-HASSAN PRESENTS #1.7B 2023 BUDGET OF TRANSFORMATION TO ORIADE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

Hon Ramotalai Akinlola-Hassan, Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area has presented the 2023 budget proposal to the legislature.

The Three billion, seven hundred and ten million two hundred and sixty thousand, eight hundred and eighty four naira,sisty three kobo(#3710,260,885.63k), tagged”Budget of Transformation’ was presented to the legislative arm on Monday,19th December,2022.

According to the breakdown given by the council chairman capital expenditure will take #1,466,156,177,26k – representing 40 percent of the total budget-,. while recurrent expenditure will gulp #2, 244 104, 707.37k, representing 60 percent of the total budget.

While addressing the lawmakers at their hallowed chamber,in the presence of the council’s Vice Chairman,Chief Moshood Badmus, the Secretary to the Local Council Alhaji Rasak Olojede, other members of Executive Committee and Management Staff,Hon Akinlola-Hassan submitted that the 2023 budget,if approved by the legislators, will enable her administration to complete all ongoing people oriented projects, such as the ultra modern town hall located in the riverine area of Ikare, primary health centre in Kirikiri,new legislative building and office complex located within the council secretariat.
The council chairman also assured residents and other stakeholders of the council that her administration,in 2023 will give topmost attention to the development of primary education,improved health care system, Youth and Women empowerments, and more importantly, rehabilitation of local roads within the council’s jurisdiction.

While expressing her appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the ongoing construction of Mumuni Adio Badmus road and other roads,Hon Akinlola-Hassan solicited for the continued support of the elected councillors in 2023, to enable her administration provide more dividend of democracy to the people.
She laid emphasis on the need for all stakeholders in the council, particularly the council’s revenue officials to work assiduously towards improving the internally generated revenue profile of the council in the new year and beyond.
In his response, after receiving the budget proposal from the executive chairman, the leader of the legislature, councillor Jamiu Jimoh Shittu commended Hon Akinlola-Hassan for her determination and efforts towards the socio economic development of Oriade Local Council Development Area,as seen in her modest achievements in 2022.
The lawmaker equally seized the opportunity of the budget presentation, to appeal to officials saddled with the responsibility of collecting revenue from the people,on behalf of the council, to be patriotic and selfless while performing their duties.
Councillor Shittu assured the council chairman that the 2023 appropriation bill will be thoroughly examined by the legislators, with a view to giving it speedy consideration and approval.

ORIADE COUNCIL SWEARS IN SECRETARY TO LOCAL GOVT, SUPERVISORS, SPECIAL ADVISERS AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

….. Council Chair charges appointees to use their appointments to make positive impact on the people.

Amidst pomp and pageantry, the newly appointed secretary to Oriade Local Council Development Area, Mr Olojede Rasaq Akorede, seven supervisors and two special advisers were sworn in on Monday 11th of April,2022, at the council secretariat, with a charge to them by the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon Ramotalai Akinlola-Hassan, to ensure that they use their appointments to make positive impact in the life of the people.

The swearing-in ceremony, conducted by the legal officer of Oriade LCDA,Mrs Isiaka Olayinka Adebisi was preceded by the screening of the appointees earlier in the day by the legislative house led by its leader, councillor Jamiu Jimoh Shittu.

The council chairman, Hon Ramotalai Akinlola-Hassan in her keynote address at the occasion charged the appointees to use their wealth of experience in their various professional fields to move the council forward.

” Let me remind you that, as members of the Executive Committee of Oriade LCDA, our people expect you to make positive impact in their lives, socially and economically”,Hon Akinlola-Hassan submitted.

She spoke further, “In this regard, I want to appeal to you, to cooperate with our administration in our effort to give the much dividend of democracy to the people”.
While congratulating the new appointees, Hon Akinlola-Hassan advised them to be completely loyal to her administration’s lofty agenda towards building a better Oriade Local Council Development Area.

She commended the leadership of All Progressives Congress, APC in Lagos State, under the chairmanship of Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi for taking their time to select the best hands as members of Executive Committee of the council.

In the acceptance speech delivered by the newly sworn in Secretary on behalf of other appointees, Mr Olojede Rasaq expressed their profound appreciation to God, APC stalwarts in both Oriade Council and Lagos State for the opportunity given them to serve.

He assured the council chairman and the good people of Oriade LCDA that they will give total loyalty and dedication to the present administraton, for the good of the people.

FESTAC TOWN ROT : CIVIL SOCIETY GROUPS SUPPORTS SEN. ASHAFA’S FHA RESTORATION AGENDA

Civil Society Groups have rallies support for the developmental efforts of Senator Gbenga Ashafa over the revamping of FESTAC TOWN in Amuwo Odofin LGA of Lagos State. The group whose concerns have been to return FESTAC back to it’s enviable and environmental friendly state said they have understudied the strategy put in place by the Federal Housing Authority boss and confident if implemented to the later will achieve immense infrastructural transformation of FESTAC TOWN.

Push News 24 International confirms that Gbenga Bareehu Ashafa is currently the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority of Nigeria, appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2020. He was previously a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Lagos State.

CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS IN FESTAC TOWN SUPPORTS SENATOR GBENGA ASHAFA LED FEDERAL HOUSING AUTHORITY MANAGEMENT IN RESTORING FESTAC TOWN LOST GLORY

It would be recalled that there has been recent persistent calls to restore the lost glory of Festac Town. Festac Town from its conceptualization after the end of Africa Cultural Festival in 1977 was to be a pacesetting estate in Africa. The infrastructures were properly planned but over time we have been experiencing serious distortion and corrosive devaluation of these same infrastructures for selfish reasons.

The quest for Festac Town to be a pacesetting estate in Nigeria have eroded over the years giving ways to deliberate distortion to it’s physically planned settings. A lot of spaces designed to make it serene and habitable have been turned into commercial spaces not minding it’s implications on the peoples habitation. Most of the recreational spaces have been into undeserving commercial hubs.

The federal government have in the past instituted different managements since the return of democracy to spearhead the restoration of Festac Town original plan from urbanly destructive tendencies. Though, they have found it very difficult until the present management led by a very distinguished poli-technocrat, Senator Gbenga Ashafa.

Senator Gbenga Ashafa has since swung into action on a very unique tone as we can see that the long stretch of the buffer zones from first gate to Alakija gate that had earlier served as slums and unorganized auto-mechanic hubs have now been allocated to their rightful owners. This action is already decimating criminal activities necessitates by those slums on that route and when the houses are completed it will add colours to the aesthetic of Festac Town.

We are also aware that some unoccupied areas that is serving as slums are being demolished in their numbers. Some places that were hijacked for selfish reasons are being taking over by the team instituted by Senator Gbenga Ashafa led management team. We are seeing FHA standing up to its responsibility under the present management.

As Civil Society Organizations operating in Festac Town, we want to throw our weight behind the present management of Federal Housing Authority led by a very experienced technocrat, Senator Gbenga Ashafa in ensuring that the lost glory of Festac Town is completely restored. We would also ensure that the management of Federal Housing Authority also reclaim spaces meant for recreational needs of the people without further delay. The spaces can be modernized through deliberate urban regenerative actions for the purpose of recreation that will positively engage our teeming youths.

There is so much spatial abuses most especially by group of persons that do not have any attachment to Festac Town. This has to stop without further delay.

This is the foundation of our call for a peaceful procession to the Federal Housing Authority Zonal Office in Festac Town on Wednesday, 29th December 2021 at exactly 10 am.

AMUWO ODOFIN : APC LOOSE OUT AS LASIEC GIVES PDP COUNCILLOR CERTIFICATE OF RETURN IN ORIADE

Following his victory in the Councillorship election in Ward A Oriade LCDA in Lagos State. Hon Mustapha on Wednesday received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), promising to work harder for the good of his community

Mustapha, who was visibly elated, said Oriade LCDA in Amuwo Odofin LGA was bigger than any individual’s ambition, and urged all to join hands with him to move Ward A, Kirikiri forward.

“I am happy to receive this Certificate of Return which confers on me the power to pilot the affairs of Ward A for the next four years.

“I wish to thank the Governor, LASIEC, the judiciary, security agencies and all those who made the election a success.

“I also wish to thank PDP as a political party for presenting me as its candidate. I shall not disappoint you;  I will work harder to.justify the confidence reposed on me,” he said.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has issued a Certificate of Return to Hon. Mustapha Olanrewaju Nathaniel of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the duly elected candidate of the Councillorship seat for Oriade Ward A, Kirikiri in Oriade Local Council Development Area.

LASIEC’s decision followed last week’s judgment of the Appeal Tribunal which affirms the decision of the Lower Tribunal that declared Hon. Mustapha Nathaniel as the rightful winner of the election.

While presenting the Certificate, the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips, represented by one of the Commissioners -Mr. Olusegun Fasu Ayedun appreciates the Candidate and the party for using the instrumentality of the law to reclaim the victory.

He urged him to work relentlessly for the common good of the people so as to justify the confidence reposed on him by the electorates and to also be magnanimous in victory. He stressed that the Commission as a law-abiding Organisation shall continue to stand by the dictate of the law in carrying out its statutory responsibility.

The Certificate of Return earlier issued to Onyeahasi Omolabake of the All Progressive Congress was thereby withdrawn and rendered invalid.

LASIEC conducted statewide elections into the offices of Chairmen, Vice-Chairmen and Councillors into the 57 Local Government/ Local Council Development Areas of the State on 24th July, 2021 which was adjudged free, fair, credible and violent free by Observers.
