Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area in Lagos State has inaugurated a 8 man statutory Committee to identify, explore, and engage the various sources of revenue in the LCDA while checking loopholes and leakages in revenue remittances procedures.

Hon Sulaiman Kazeem Olanrewaju (SKO), the Executive Chairman of the council, while inaugurating members of the committee at the Owutu House multipurpose hall urged them to carry out their task with a sense of commitment and accountability.

Speaking at the inauguration of the members who are drawn from the 5 Wards of the LCDA based on their professional experience and expertise Hon Sulaiman tasked the committee members to ensure that all the LCDA’s revenue streams at various levels become seamless.

He said: “I want to charge all of you. The assurance you have given us today is demonstration of our belief that our revenues will be in good hands and that you will help us to resolve all the bottlenecks that we have and ensure that all our revenue streams at the local governments become seamless.

You will bring about policies and ideas that will ensure that we can indeed continue to remain self reliant as the number one outstanding IGR LCDA in Lagos State.

“I want to congratulate, commend and thank you for agreeing to serve our LCDA at this epoch time .”

In a chat with Push News International SKO also raised concerns over the non-compliant attitude of some operating business concerns in the LCDA.

According to him, revenue remittance and corporate social responsibility, which should practically boost social infrastructure in the area, had been mared by irregularities.

The Revenue Committee is chaired by an experienced accountant, Mr Adekunle Adebanjo, while Mr Abdulahi G.B.
would serve as the Secretary.

The council boss urged the committee to identify companies culpable of revenue evasion and non-adherence to the laws guiding same. He, however, cautioned them against abuse of office.

Speaking earlier, the Council Treasurer, Mr. Abaniwonda, said the committee is to work diligently and expected to organise and improve revenue administration in Ikorodu West.

He urged the members of the committee to focus on the assignment ahead, assuring that “all supports would be made available to them.”

Mr S.O. Omoteji , Human Resources Officer of the Council in his own submission applauded the leadership style of the new council boss, describing it as people-oriented; he further charged the committee members to work swiftly so as to be ahead of target.
